NCMG SUPPORT POLICY
NCMG Support Policy
March, 2022
Nature Coast Marine Group has worked hard over the years to build up a good reputation for being a bi-partisan, reasonable and scientifically-based community voice for marine education and conservation. It is important that we maintain this reputation. Many other groups now seek our support for their causes. We need to consider carefully where and how we lend our support to various issues so that we do not compromise our hard-earned reputation. Some examples of support include: financial donations, letters of support to other organisations, to Government bodies, to Members of Parliament or public comment on government (Council, State, Federal) policies.
Therefore, we have set some guidelines for where and how we should direct our support.
The issues should have relevance and be of some benefit to the marine environment and/or marine biota, directly or indirectly.
The support should be bi-partisan.
The request for support must be directed to the NCMG Executive Committee for consideration.
The request must be approved by a quorum (majority) of the NCMG Executive Committee wherever possible; if not possible due to the situation or timing, then support must be provisional, conditional on the agreement of a quorum of the Committee who are to be consulted as soon as possible.
The decision must be recorded in the official meeting minutes.
On election, all committee members must agree in writing to abide by the above points of this Policy.
